Salam di hari Ahad yang indah! Bagi anak-anak yang baru meningkat remaja, gambar kartun Disney diatas tentu akan mengimbaskan filem animasi diminda mereka - Pocahontas, anak gadis kepada ketua kaum etnik Amerika yang bernama Powhatan. Filem yang ditayangkan pada tahun 1995, mungkin masa itu mereka ini masih kecil.

Yang sering saya jadikan contoh buat anak-anak saya disini adalah sifat baik yang dimiliki oleh Pocahontas - dia yang mencintai kedamaian, keindahan alam semula jadi yang mempunyai kehidupan dan kerohanian, kebersihan dan bumi yang tidak tercemar.

Terutamanya KEBERSIHAN. Kebersihan itu amalan kita semua. Rasulullah SAW sendiri bersabda bahawa “Kebersihan itu adalah sebahagian daripada iman”. Dan ia merupakan imej Islam. Saya dan Cahaya saya, melatih anak-anak kami untuk menjadikan kebersihan sebagai salah satu prinsip hidup yang penting.

Kebersihan yang lengkap merangkumi kebersihan diri dan kebersihan dalaman. Kebersihan luaran - badan, rambut, kaki, tangan, gigi, telinga dan semuanya hendaklah sentiasa bersih. Cuci tangan dengan sabun sebelum makan, berus gigi 3x sehari dan sebagainya. Kebersihan rumah termasuk tempat solat, kawasan rumah, longkang - semuanya kebersihan luaran. Kebersihan dalaman pula adalah bersifat kerohanian. Kebersihan hati dan jiwa agar sentiasa berpaksi kepada Islam, menurut perintah Allah SWT dan ajaran Rasulullah SAW. Dengan kebersihan total ini, insya Allah maka aman damailah kehidupan kita dan baru kita mampu menuju kearah kemenangan hidup di dunia dan di akhirat.

Buat waktu ini, kami tidak mempunyai amah untuk membuat kerja-kerja rumah. Kalau dulu, semua bersih membersih, cuci mencuci dan kemas mengemas adalah kerja amah. Sekarang bila amah balik kenegerinya setelah tamat tempoh kontrak, kelam kabutlah juga jadinya apabila harus ‘mengambil alih’ tugas-tugas rumah…. Tapi jika direnung sedalamnya, ada banyak hikmahnya. Bila kerja-kerja memasak dan kerja-kerja rumah yang lainnya kita buat dengan tangan kita sendiri, kita dapat gerenti kebersihannya. Segalanya lebih teratur, lebih rapi dan malah lebih menjimatkan juga!

Alhamdulillah, sekarang hampir sebulan kami tidak beramah. Segala kerja rumah kami lakukan bersama. Sudah tentu saya sebagai ibu perlu memainkan banyak peranan, begitu juga si Cahaya sebagai ketua keluarga. Dialah segalanya bagi kami, dan memastikan segalanya cukup dan terjaga dengan elok untuk kami. Si Kaka, anak kami yang sulung pun banyak membantu dalam hal ini…. Dan kami sangat bahagia anak beranak. Syukur Alhamdulillah.

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

I have decided to reopen my blog again. Good! It means I'll start writing again. Surely that's one way to relieve stress and reduce my boredom. Who says it's easy to be away from your loved one, especially in tough times? Rindulah yang menjadi teman setia. Mmmm mula dah sinoneng kepala ni...!

Apapun dia dalam kepala yang beserabut pada kala ini, yang penting aku sudah mula menulis lagi. Ya lah, pena benakku masih mampu bergerak. Bukannya main susah untuk memulakan sesuatu semula setelah sekian lamanya selesa ditinggalkan, walau peninggalan yang seketika. Sekejap jadi, sekejap tidak - itu sudah tentu. Aku rasa, bagus juga gerak-gerakkan minda ni semula. Apalagi dalam keadaan otak tengah kacau bilau gara-gara perkara yang bersangkut paut dengan 'ketidakadilan'. Lagipun buku-buku novel yang terbaru ku beli semua dah selesai dibaca - ha'ah... kisah Laksamana Sunan bersiri hasil sentuhan Ramli Awang Mursyid, penulis novel yang diminati. Cuma tinggal satu saja buku beliau yang terbaru, yang tak sempat aku baca - Rayyan Fantasi - buku ni hilang entah kemana, ataupun disambar helang kah itu? Wallahu'alam. Buku novel pun boleh orang main sambar-sambar ya, kesiannya....

Insya ALLAH. ALLAH gerakkanlah mindaku kearah penulisan yang baik-baik dan benar belaka. Biar dapat menjadi nukilan-nukilanku yang berharga untuk tatapan puteri-puteriku dan putera, sebagai pedoman dimana jua berada dan bila-bila masa. And of course buat sang Cahaya ku yang sentiasa di hati, tak pernah jauh di mata....

Marhabban Ya Ramadhan.....

Bulan Ramadhan sudah tiba. Bulan yang mempunyai banyak keistimewaan, selepas dua bulan sebelumnya yang juga tidak kurang fadhilatnya iaitu Rejab dan Sya'ban. Dibulan Ramadhan, dibuka semua pintu-pintu syurga dan ditutup segala pintu neraka. Diikat segala syaitan.

Semua ini menggambarkan bagaimana Allah Maha Esa sangat mengasihani dan menyayangi hamba-hambaNya yang ta’at beribadat dan menunaikan segala perintahNya.

Selamat Menunaikan 'ibadah Puasa to all of you, dan semoga Allah Ta'ala sentiasa memberkati dan merahmati kita semua dengan limpah kasih sayangNya. Aamiin.

Rezeki Allah

Allah Ta'ala berfirman dalam Surah Al-Fatir, ayat 3 : "Wahai umat manusia, kenangkanlah nikmat Allah yang telah dikurniakanNya kepada kamu; tidak ada sama sekali yang menciptakan sesuatu selain daripada Allah; Dia memberi rezeki kepada kamu dari langit dan bumi. Tiada Tuhan melainkan Dia, maka mengapa kamu rela dipalingkan (dari menyembahnya)?".

Allah Maha Pemurah dan Maha Kaya, lagi Maha ‘Adil. Semua habuan yang kita dapat di dunia yang fana’ ini, yang diberikan oleh Allah adalah ujian kepada kita. Sama ada habuan itu berunsur positif atau sebaliknya. Semasa kita senang, jangan sekali lupa kepada Allah Yang Esa, supaya Dia bersama kita dikala kita susah.

Aku ingin memanjatkan setinggi-tinggi kesyukuran ke hadhrat Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala di atas rezeki yang dilimpahkanNya kepada ku, suamiku dan semua anak-anakku. Terima kasih Ya Allah. Sesungguhnya kurniaan Allah Maha Besar itu amat bermakna dan berharga kepada kami sekeluarga yang bernama hamba.

Mungkin kini tiba masanya untuk aku dan keluargaku berbakti kepada bumiMu. Jika ini ketentuannya, Insya Allah, akan kami sahut.......

Hey! Assalamu'alaikum. Yeah I know, it has been a very long time, since I last blogged. Well, I'm here now!

Waking up early in the morning is always a very nice experience. I pernah terdengar ceramah YB Pehin Mufti di dalam radio. YB stated – Selepas kita selesai menunaikan Solat Suboh, kita janganlah tidor. Kerana setelah selesai Suboh, Allah Ta’ala akan membahagi-bahagikan REZEKI kepada hamba-hambaNya di muka bumi. Masya Allah. Sesungguhnya Allah itu Maha Pengasih lagi Maha Pemurah.

And I remember, my Cahaya pernah bercerita, sinaran MATAHARI pada ketika Solat Dhuha pada waktu pagi itu, adalah sangat lain pancaran cahayanya, sebab Solat Dhuha adalah istimewa untuk kita sebagai hamba-hambaNya berhajat memohon rezeki. Waktunya adalah pada waktu pagi, apabila matahari naik ke langit 7 hasta, about 7:00am. And if you read dan menghayati do’a setelah Solat Dhuha, it is all about REZEKI. Kalau rezeki itu masih berada di langit, kita memohon agar ia diturunkan kepada kita, jika ia masih berada di dalam bumi, kita pohonkan agar ia dikeluarkan kepada kita ... – Kita tidak ada daya, melainkan dengan pertolongan Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala. Kita tidak ada kekuatan dan tidak berhak untuk menyegerakan apa yang dilambatkan oleh Allah, dan melambatkan apa yang disegerakan olehNya.

Do’a Solat Dhuha :

"Ya Allah, bahawasanya waktu Dhuha itu adalah waktu Dhuha-Mu, kecantikan itu ialah kecantikan-Mu, keindahan itu keindahan-Mu, dan perlindungan itu, perlindungan-Mu. Ya Allah, jika rezekiku masih di atas langit, turunkanlah dan jika ada di dalam bumi , keluarkanlah, jika sukar mudahkanlah, jika haram sucikanlah, jika masih jauh dekatkanlah, berkat waktu Dhuha, keagungan, keindahan, kekuatan dan kekuasaan-Mu, limpahkanlah kepada kami segala yang telah Engkau limpahkan kepada hamba-hamba-Mu yang shaleh".

My eldest daughter, Kaka (Ummi) has a deep passion in performing arts, eversince she was at a very young age. Recently she played as one of the lead roles, Jill, in a musical theatre - Prom The Musical, at the KL Performing Arts Centre. Congratulations baby! Hi salam semua! Last week, our son Luqman was selected to participate in the Azan Contest. There were altogether 10 students from different schools within the District. Luq got 5th in the competition. He didn't win, but he had done his best. Well done Abang!

Hi! I'm in Bali now. Not for holiday though.....! Harus kerja bapak, ibu.... Arrived last Thursday with working colleagues and will be here for a week for the ASEAN Finance Ministers Meetings, ADB ASEAN Investment Day roadshow and the ADB annual meetings. The bosses are here too.... Staying at the Grand Hyatt Resort. A nice 5-star hotel, but service is bad. Maybe because of the meeting events, the hotel is full or almost full, that they seem unable to cope with all demands and needs.

It has been a busy, tight schedule for us, with meetings and work over weekends, while manning our booth at the same time. I am very glad that I did manage however, to visit my old place of work (in the late 90s)..... the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel on one of the evenings, with my colleague. To me, it's still the most beautiful hotel as it has all the balinese touch in it in everywhere. I met my old friend, Made Sunada. He used to be a butler during my time, and now he is the Palace Wing Manager (this wing is an equivalent to Grand Club in other international hotels).

And today, this afternoon, we had the chance of pampering ourself with traditional balinese massage and mandi lulur at the well known Spa. The Spa is one of it's strengths that can beat those at other hotels. It was supposed to be a 1 hour 45 minute - treatment but it ended up like almost 21/2 hours. That was awesome and so relaxing....

We will be leaving on Wednesday. Hopefully we get the chance to go around the exciting Kuta tomorrow. Oh yes, by the way, I had a nice ikan bakar meal at Ulam with colleagues for lunch, on the second day, and it was very nice!

I haven't been updating my blog for quite a while. A little bit busylah. Especially while my hubby Cahaya is away, I will have to become the "runner". Tiring but I enjoy it. I send our 3 kids to school, fetch and send them home, eat and have lunch with them, help them with their homework and revision and sleep with them at night. Our children are our inspirations in life. No matter how is the pattern or the kind of life you are going through, they are absolutely your inspirations.

We love watching our kids grow - Kaka, Luq, Maya and Fatima. I spoke to Kaka over the phone 2 days ago. She told me she had her final results and she made it. She now holds her Diploma in Performing Arts. We are very proud of you, Kaka! Congratulations for the excellence you have made!

Whoa...this month, I'm going to be really busy. Mum ordered me to supply cakes and kueh-kueh as desserts for her buffet restaurant. Tukang buat kuehnya balik Indon, so nggak ada sapa-sapa lagi yang bisa nolongin... That's alright for me, will do it, at least I can upgrade my baking skills. Hehehe.... if lucky, dapatlah my mum's customers eat my kueh tepung talam.... slurpzz... yummy!

Tepung Talam is a very popular local kueh in Kedah. You can only find it there, although I know that a few people make and sell them in KL. I never miss buying it everytime I balik to my hubby's kampung. The shop is in Jitra, and it only opens around 3 in the afternoon, and by that time, the kueh is quickly gone! Ooooi best giler when you eat this 2-layered steamed kueh, brown layer topped with milky white pudding...

Those who wish to order my Tepung Talam, I'm selling it at B$10.00 per medium-sized tray. Murah tau.....

Our good KL friend, Hashim has been staying in Brunei for almost a week now, at our house. Other than Andy Flop Poppy, he's our one friend who loves coming to Brunei for holidays. He had just finished his Remp-it V3 movie. Now he'll be heading ahead with his Bunian - Mahkota Seri Helang movie project. He showed us the script, I read a bit part of it, hmmm.. quite a cool story. Something like the Malay version of the Lord of The Ring. I think. Hashim is going back to KL tonight. Hashim is Cahaya's business partner in KL, next to Ambri Kailani. The three of them are all orang filem. My Cahaya used to be a Production Manager for a number of Malay films - Nafas Cinta, Hanya Kawan, Black Maria, etc and a few drama series, Hotel (30 episodes), Senja ke Dini Hari, Kembara Bermusim (30 episodes), Penghujung Jalan (12 episodes), Kelip-kelip di Hujung Galah, Cinta Bunga Sarajevo, etc. Hashim is a professional Cameraman, Conti and Assistant Director. Insya Allah, he will start directing movies this year, that's what he promised. Meanwhile, Ambri is a well known name who had excellent credential working in the past with Datuk Yusof Haslam. I hope my daughter, Ummi will follow suit like these people, once she finished with her study.

Now I am with my beloved Cahaya and his friends Hashim and Jabar, hanging out at one nice, cool restaurant in Gadong. I'm having Penang char kway teow...mmm... not bad. Jabar is also Cahaya's key man in his company. He used to write song lyrics for the famous Lefthanded and now he spent most of his time in sports projects.

The Time Between Rajin and Malas

Have you all watched the Korean Drama series called "The Time Between Dog and Wolf"? It's quite an old serial drama, released in 2006 on tv, and was shown on RTB last year. It's one of my favourites, I love the plot of the whole story and the actors - Jung Kyung Ho, Nam Sang Mi and Lee Jun Ki. If you haven't, better watch.

Last weekend was enjoyably a long break for me, with the Chinese new year holidays. I spent that quality time with family and also making kuehs.... That was my most 'rajin' moment. Well, I've always aimed to improve my baking skill and also the skill of making kueh-kueh melayu. Simply because I love eating. So one of the days, I tried making Roti Jala, the recipe I got from one website. It was supposed to be a reliable website because there are few other recipes that I have tried before and were proven successful. But this time, the Roti Jala I made was a failure. I had nice curry that was supposed to be eaten with it, and in the end I made bread instead. Suksesssss..... My hubby and the kids love it!

The result was amazing, I was very happy that I can now make bread for my family! Hehehe... Since then, tak dok kojo lainlah beb, buat roti saja eyyy.... Tangan pun lambut udah, lalai menguli dough, hehehe.... With few practices, now I can also make kueh-kueh talam......my favourite Tepung Talam and Talam Ubi... Mmmm nyaman.....

Firman Allah Ta’ala dalam Surah Asy-Syu'araa, ayat 217 - 220 yang kira-kira bermaksud:

"Dan bertakwallah kepada (Allah) Yang Maha Perkasa lagi Maha Penyayang. Yang melihatmu ketika kamu berdiri (untuk solat) dan (melihat) perubahan gerak badanmu di antara orang-orang yang sujud. Sesungguhnya Dia-lah Yang Maha Mendengar lagi Maha Mengetahui"

I was supposed to be in the office early today, after my Cahaya and I sent our kidz to school. Then suddenly on the way, Fatima's teacher called up telling us that Fatima vomitted in class. So we rushed back to her school to attend to her. We had to change her baju sekolah and so forth. Kesian... Maybe her tummy sejuk but she's fine. Salah makan saja. No wonderlah because this morning she had mushroom soup with milo for breakfast, so sudah pasti inda ngam dalam perut...

Gugurnya Para Syuhada

Allah SWT berfirman dalam Syrah Yunus, ayat 61 yang kira-kira bermaksud:

"Dalam keadaan apapun kamu berada, dan (ayat) apapun dari Al-Qur’an yang kamu baca, serta pekerjaan apa saja yang kamu kerjakan, tidak lain kami adalah menjadi saksi atasmu diwaktu kamu melakukannya".

Kisah Uhud merakamkan gugurnya Sayyidusy Syuhada’ dalam sebuah peperangan termasyhur. Salah seorang daripadanya adalah bapa saudara Nabi Junjungan kita Muhammad s.a.w iaitu Sayyidina Hamzah bin Abdul Muttalib r.a. yang digelar ‘Singa Allah’. Peperangan Uhud terjadi pada bulan Syawwal tahun ke-3 Hijrah. Ia berlaku di lembah lereng bukit Uhud yang berhampiran dengan Kota Madinah. Disinilah berlakunya pertumpahan darah 70 orang para Syuhada’. Setiap tahun Rasulullah menziarahi Qubur para Syuhada’ Uhud untuk mendoakan mereka, dan apabila berada disana, akan kedengaranlah suara baginda memberi salam, yang kira-kira bermaksud:

“Salam sejahtera keatas kamu, diatas kesabaran kamu (dalam menegakkan Islam), maka sebaik-baik balasanlah yang akan kamu terima.”

Semasa peperangan tersebut, Mush’ab bin Umair adalah pemegang bendera tentera, seorang remaja Quraish yang merupakan salah seorang sahabat Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.

Dalam peristiwa Uhud, kekalahan adalah dipihak tentera Rasulullah s.a.w. Disini Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala menganugerahkan pahala kesabaran keatas Rasulullah s.a.w dan para Syuhada’ yang lain kerana menghadapi ujian kekalahan. Diantara para sahabat yang gugur syahid adalah Saiyidina Handhzalah bin Abu Amir r.a, Saiyidina Anas bin an-Nadhr r.a, Saiyidina Abu Dujanah r.a, Saiyidina Amr bin al-Jamuh r.a dan seorang serikandi Islam yang berani, Saiyidatina Nusaibah binti Ka’ab r.a. Diriwayatkan Saiyidina Handhzalah r.a baru sahaja berkahwin pada ketika itu. Para malaikat telah turun untuk memandikan jenazahnya yang Syahid. Masya Allah.

Terharu rasanya tatkala menziarahi qubur para Syuhada’ Uhud pada masa itu, dalam mengenangkan peristiwa yang terpahat dalam sejarah Islam. Terdapat do’a tertentu bila kita menziarahi Qubur para Syuhada’ Uhud. Terdapat notice mengenai adab menziarahi Syuhada’ Uhud ini.

Suatu waktu dulu, Rasulullah melarang umatnya menziarahi qubur, dan kemudian membenarkannya kerana ia memperingatkan kita kepada ‘alam barzakh. Kita dilarang memohon pertolongan daripada orang-orang yang telah meninggal dunia, pendek kata kepada roh-roh, untuk menyelesaikan masalah atau membasmi kedukaan. Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala telah berfirman bahawa jika kita mempunyai hajat, mintalah pertolongan dariNya, nescaya akan ditunaikanNya.

Talking about peace, seluruh umat Islam di dunia ini meratapi apa yang berlaku di bumi Palestin dan mendoakan agar mereka dilindungi Allah SWT, mendapat rahmat, berjaya memperolehi semula tanah air mereka tercinta dan aman sejahtera. Kepada para mujahidin yang telah pergi dan gugur dalam berjihad mempertahankan bumi Palestin dan memperjuangkan agama, bangsa dan hak mereka, didoakan semoga roh-roh mereka dicucuri rahmat dan diangkat kedudukan syahid mereka disisi Allah SWT, amiin, amiin, amiin.

Today dah Friday! It was just like 2 - 3 days baru kita celebrated new year 1430 and 2009! Kemana perginya waktu? Bila mengingatkan peredaran waktu kini tidak terasa, takut melanda dijiwa. Umur pun semakin meniti. Bila direnung keadaan sekeliling, hati kadang tertanya, bila berakhirnya semua? Apakah cukup amalan di dunia? I always like to remind myself, sebagai seorang hamba yang banyak dosa.

Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda yang bermaksud -

"Adapun sebaik-baik manusia menurut pandangan Islam ialah mereka yang panjang umur serta baik perbuatan dan amalannya, manakala sejahat-jahat umatku ialah orang yang lanjut usia tetapi kekal dalam amalan mungkar."

Dan firman Allah Ta'ala yang bermaksud:

“Demi masa. Sesungguhnya manusia itu benar-benar berada dalam kerugian. Kecuali orang yang beriman dan mengerjakan amal salih dan berpesan-pesan dengan kebenaran dan berpesan-pesan dengan kesabaran.” - (Surah al-‘Asr, ayat 1-3)

It’s been raining for few days now.... It’s kinda gloomy but still okay. A bit cold. I hope it will not cause any flooding anywhere.

Fatima is getting steady with her school now. Except that she demands her Ayah to be around during class recess. She needs help with her snacks. And believe it or not, today she asked her aunty (our maid) to bekal her favourite mushroom soup. Oh dear.... kanak-kanak....

At the office, my work is already piling up now. Kenapalah, 2009 still ‘smells’ baru and fresh lagi nie... and today I macam tiada mood! Padahai dah menyeghok pagi tadi, mai pejabat peghut pun kenyang dah... heiii awat lah! Jemuih tak tentu pasai ya dak? Tak taulah kot, had mana yang tak dan masa cuti-cuti bulan lepaih... Or maybe it’s due to the ‘weatheq’.... (hehe, awat hang salahkan cuaca pulak...). Anywayz, kaja ku banyak ne... My youngest baby Fatima started her school today, at Sekolah Rendah Dato Marsal. She's in Pra-A. The same school as her kaka Maya and Abang Luqman. Maya and Luq also started their new class, Year 4 and Year 6.

I'm still on leave. So I together with Cahaya, spent most of the morning watching out for Fatima at her school. Alhamdulillah, we didn't have any problem. She was quite independent and enjoyed her first day and made friends with her classmates.

During our cuti-cuti time, we also went to Kedah, Cahaya's beautiful home country. Kedah lies in the north of Semenanjung Malaysia, distinctively known as the "Rice Bowl of Malaysia". We've stayed here for 3 nights.

Salam Ma’al Hijrah

You can find many wonders in this holy month of Muharram. One of them is the 10th day of Muharram, commonly known as Hari Ashurah, which has many distinctive qualities and features. Almighty Allah Ta’ala created the heavens and the earth on this blessed day. This is the day on which He gave His infinite blessings and bounties to many of His Prophets and rescued them from their enemies.

Muharram reminds us of the hijrah or migration, of our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW from Mecca to Medina. Almighty Allah Ta’ala created Adam AS and pardoned him for his mistake. Nabi Noh AS had his Ark landed successfully on Mount Judi, and Allah saved Nabi Ibrahim AS from fire and rescued Nabi Musa AS from the cruel Fir’aun.

The decision was final. We chose to go to KL and Kedah for our year end holidays instead of KK. It's a budget trip, and it's fun!

When we are in KL, as usual Ipoh kway teow curry is definitely a must ... (slurp...). It's extremely delicious!

I really am looking forward to the weekend. As usual, Friday is a working day for me. So far the children’s school holidays are filled up with their own activities. They enjoy their swimming on alternate days. Both Maya and Fatima are getting better with their swimming styles. They make new friends and have lots of fun. Cahaya and I haven’t decided where to bring the kids, KL or KK. We were told by friends that KK is now full of Bruneians. Wherever you go, you are bound to bump into your fellow countrymen! Flights to KL are now expensive, oh no! Well, there’s no rushing for us. We’ll just wait and see, soon we’ll decide where to go. Of all you know, hehe who knows .... rezeki Allah!

Assalamu’alaikum everyone.

After my short weekend trip from Kedah & KL last month, I was then busy with the preparation of my Brunei Roundtable 2008 event at The Empire. Alhamdulillah, the event went well and the attendance of foreign and local participants was overwhelming. Thank you very much to my BIFC friends who had helped me throughout the preparation until the day of the event. Especially to Hazel, Feem (spelling?) and Fatin. Great work to all of you. Bosses were all happy .... eheee.... Next year lagi yeah?

Right away the next morning (25th Nov), I flew off again, this time to Shanghai with Feem, through Singapore on business trips. Alamak, fenat memang fenat, and Shanghai was oh... so cold maaa .... It was winter. Upon arriving there, we joined the OCRA people - Wuei, Helen, and others - and also Alvina of Baiduri Bank. We had good meetings, OCRA’s promotional IBC showcase went very well. Well done OCRA! We had good times. I will upload the pictures in the blog soon. Meanwhile, you can check it out at Wuei’s blog. He went into detail with our hotel room facility - the well-equipped, sophisticated modern toilet, haha...

Back at the office last Monday, whoa, my work had piled up, which I must complete before my next leave! (Ahhh, cuti lagi, Sinar?) .... Yup, 22 days babe!! Yahhhooooiii!

Salam everyone! I haven’t been blogging since I got back from Fiji last month. That was like 3 weeks ago? Very busy with work, and keeping myself in pace with so many things, apart from personal errands. I just got back from KL yesterday. I took 2-day leave last Thursday and Friday. It was a very short trip, I spent most of the time in Kedah, my Cahaya’s hometown, and also met Ummi, our eldest daughter before I returned to Brunei.

Coming back to my Fiji trip - On my way back to Brunei, I spent a night in Brisbane. What do you expect, from just a one-night stay? Brisbane is very beautiful. It's a cool place to be. I love the scenery and the city is surrounded by water. That's Australia.

Hey there, I'm still in Fiji!

Our meeting and seminar programmes were finally over. We were then geared for the post-meeting programme that had been arranged for us ahead. This included the tour to Nadi town (pronounced as 'Nandi') which is only about 10 minutes away from our Westin Denarau hotel and is on the way to Suva, where the Reserve Bank of Fiji is situated.

The main attraction of this small town is the handicrafts, cheap flowery shirts and little souvenirs. I bought some fridge magnets for myself and a set of place mats at the famous Jack's shop.

There's nothing much to offer at this sub-urban satellite town. To compare it with our place back home, it's like Tutong town, except that it's located within a resort. Anyway, I enjoyed the tour and the Fijian people we met at the handicraft market were very pleasant and friendly. They were cheerfully singing their folk songs which indicated that they are indeed happy people.

Our next fun organised on the following day was the whole day trip to Mala-Mala Island. That will be my next chapter! So see you soon. Vinaka!

Bula! It means 'welcome' in Fiji. Finally, I arrived at Nadi Airport, Fiji at 5:25 am local time, with my colleague, Joedi. Our long journey started at 11.15am from Brunei to Brisbane by RBA. The flight took us almost 7 hours. In transit at Brisbane International Airport for about 4 hours before leaving for Fiji at almost midnight Brisbane time. Luckily, I had a good sleep in the plane.

Upon our arrival in Fiji, we were welcomed by the Secretariat Officials from the Fiji's Central Bank, the Reserve Bank of Fiji. They took us to the hotel where we stay, the Westin Denarau Resort & Spa. It is located in a beautiful resort named Denarau, nestled within a serene surrounding. I just love the spacious room. Cool! Upon check-in, Joedi and I had good breakfast at the coffee house by the swimming pool. We were quite tired though and needed our sleep to regain our energy for our days ahead have been programmed quite intensively with the Directors of Research & Training's 30th Meeting, organized by SEACEN and hosted by the Reserve Bank of Fiji.

There are many other hotels in Denarau resort area, including the Sofitel, beach villas managed by Hilton, the Sheraton and more. I rejuvenated myself with a profound nap after breakfast. I needed that. In the afternoon, together with Joedi, I ‘ronda-ronda’ at Port Denarau as planned, which is just 10 minutes away by shuttle bus from our hotel. It was just the right time for lunch, and we had yummy fish & chips at the Hard Rock Cafe. I bought a nice t-shirt for my Cahaya and the limited edition pin.

In the evening, together with the other delegates from the other Central Bank members - Fiji, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore etc, we were entertained at the Hotel beach front with a reception.

I'll be flying off soon for another meeting. Guess where it'll be? Yup, it's Fiji. So I guess I won't be 'blogging' for a while.

I don't know what to feel...I don't like long flights, that's for sure. And I will be far away from my kidz and hubby. Rindu dan rindu lagi....

To my Cahaya, I won't see you before I leave. Anywayz, banyak bersabar ok... Apapun terjadi, let's look from the bright side. Lihat dari aspek hikmah dan kebesaran Allah Yang Maha Esa. Allah Ta'ala masih mahu menguji kesabaran. Don't forget, kepada orang yang berbuat aniaya itu pun, Allah sedang menguji mereka sejauh mana kejujuran mereka. Apapun, mari kita bersyukur kepada Allah SWT, Allah tetap melindungi kita dan melimpahkan kasih sayangNya, supaya kita tidak terjerumus dengan penipuan dan kepura-puraan orang yang melakukan khianat. Semoga Allah menunjukkan kebenaranNya.

Sesungguhnya Allah tidak membebani seseorang melainkan sesuai dengan kesanggupannya. (Surah Al-Baqrah, ayat 286).

If you lihat gunung, buatkan ia sebagai contoh. Tidakkan lari gunung dikejar... This is pepatah melayu. No need to kejar the gunung my dear Cahaya. Biar kita tak untung di dunia, asalkan Allah redha dengan kita...

Sederhana

We celebrated our Hari Raya dengan cukup sederhana. Dalam kita sebok dan ‘enjoyss’ berhari raya di bulan Syawal, moleklah bersederhana, sepertimana yang diajarkan oleh Rasulullah SAW. Apapun, segalanya bermula dengan niat....

On the first day raya, the first thing we did was of course to visit our parents. All brother, sisters, in-laws and grand children gathered at Mum and Dad’s home. There are 4 of us sisters and brother and our parents have 12 grandchildren. Only Kaka Ummi, the eldest cucu nenek was missing.....

Sempat lagi potong birthday cake toh Bi.....

Once we had finished our makan-makan, we all headed to our aunties and uncles houses in Tutong....

Our Hari Raya....Teropong Rosak?...

Salam everyone. Masya Allah.... sebok sokmo, aduh! Haven’t got the time to write in. Anywayz, how’s your Hari Raya celebration? Ours was an enjoyable one, although a little quiet. This is the first time, me and my family celebrated raya in Brunei home. In the past years - Last year 2007, we had it in Cahaya’s home ground, Kedah, in 2006 - I celebrated raya alone in Mecca and my Cahaya and the kidz had it in Kedah, in 2005 - we all had it in KL and Kedah. Kira banyak tah sudah tempat si Cahaya... This year it was my turn then.

These are the pictures that we took during our raya here in Brunei. The 1st Syawal fell on 2nd October, unlike in Cahaya’s home country on the 1st. On the raya eve, our house area at Bedil was very lively. Quite colourful with mini fireworks. Macam bertanding toh.... We didn't actually had to buy the fireworks for our kids, because every surrounding house was making big show of their bunga api...meriah... We decorated our house in a very simple manner - little lampu "lap-lip" (kelap kelip hehehe....) and some lampu pelita.

This year, we ecelbrated it without our eldest daughter, Ummi. Due to her college project, she had to stay back in KL and had it with her friends there. We miss you so much Kaka...

The sesi bermaafan on the first day raya was quite dramatic....hehe... Our kids drained out their tears.... Kesian jua...

"Fatima tau fatima naughty.... next time nda mau naughty-naughty lagi....."

Today is our beloved Bapa’s 68th birthday. We had just finished celebrating it at Mum’s restaurant – Muti’ah.

Selamat Hari Jadi, Bapa. Semoga dipanjangkan umur dengan badan yang sihat sejahtera, dilimpahkan rezeki, rahmat dan kasih saying Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala selalu. Amiin, amiin, amiin.

Rupanya jangkaan silap … Never mindlah, meaning some kids will still go to school tomorrow (uhuhu…) and we’ll still be working … But we will be having a longgggg weekend holidays… huh best giler!!

I promised to upload my pictures taken in my last KL trip.....

That was taken outside The Pavilion, the new shopping mall at Bukit Bintang. Very exciting place. I love the food court!

This was taken outside Tun Mahathir's cosy bakery cum coffee shop.... lovely hangout place!

With my darling Cahaya, berbuka puasa at Grand Millenium Hotel (ex-Regent), where we stayed. Yummy buffet..... Lots of food served!

My Yummy Tart Nenas - Part Two

I’ve been busy towards end of the Ramadhan - making tart nenas or pineapple tarts. Maklumlah banyak order for Hari Raya.... I love pineapple tarts, especially those stuffed with generous filling of inti nenas. Simply gorgeous! Besides that, my other favourites are kuih mor, crunchy cornflakes cookies and kek lapis masam manis. I have few orders of cakes too, including from my mum and my sister - kek lapis permata (aka kek traffic light....hmmm manalah dorang dapat nama ni...) and kek lapis masam manis. Oh not forgetting biskut batang buruk, the taste of tepung kacang hijau is extremely marvellous! The old time favourite biskut dahlia semprit is also nice, evergreen......

The making if my kek lapis permata, pheww...so time consuming..!

My Yummy Tart Nenas - Part One

I am already back to my home sweet home in Brunei since Sunday night, after spending more than a week in KL. I had enjoyable trip this time. The SEACEN "Train-The-Trainer Course for Bank Supervisors & Regulators" that I had attended for 5 consecutive days was very useful and effective, and would be great to apply in my job task, i say man... yang benerrr!. And of course, being able to be with my loved ones - my hubby Cahaya and my eldest daughter Ummi - were the greatest of all, bahagia....something that I couldn't quantify. Sadly, Ummi will not be joining us for Hari Raya this year. Now that she is in her final year, she is undergoing an internship programme. She is playing a main role in her next theatre performance entitled "Atomic Jaya". Sebok sakan anak mummy sorang ato....

As I reached home, I tried my tart nenas, some that I left over in my airtight jar... hehe, still yummy loh.... nyaman ehhh!

I haven't managed to upload the pictures from my camera yet. Will probably do that in the next blog. Cahaya is now back in Brunei, just arrived last night. So I'll be busy cooking meals at home for him now...hehe! Oh ya, last night I cooked for him Ikan Tenggiri Masak Asam Pedas, Udang Sambal Petai and Tauhu Bunting (ah? apa tu? You have to rasalah....). Desert? Kueh Lepat Pisang.

I've been in KL for almost a week now. I enjoy it. The food, the gathering up with friends, the training and the meetings... I love the new mall "Pavillion". Especially the food centre, I had ipoh kway teow curry for my 'berbuka', the kerang goreng, yong tau foo....gosh its all about food!

Last Monday night, I met one of my friends, 'pucukadok' at Al-Bait, a nice Lebanese restaurant at Changkat Bukit Bintang. We had arabic bread with humous and the yummy falafel. We hanged out again at Lotus on Wednesday night at one of Cahaya's favourite hangouts, Lotus (Indian eating place) together with Abang Boxxtomoi... We met at about 10:30pm after solat trawih and the chat dragged on till sahur time... And that was only teh tarik... Cool!

The Holy month of Ramadhan is when one as Muslim would want to enjoy its spiritual benefits to the fullest, for it only comes once a year. You will see that some people also tend to change drastically their eating habits, when in fact, their diet should not differ from the normal diet. It could actually be even simpler and thus better. Ramadhan is the best time to loose weight.

Kita orang Melayu nie, apa-apapun juadah hidangan untuk berbuka puasa (Brunei - "bersungkai"), jangantah macam nie...hehe, bahaya to...!

Yesterday was the 1st Ramadhan for Malaysia, meanwhile Brunei starts it today.

To all Muslim friends, brothers and sisters, Happy Ramadhan Al-Mubarak. Let's enjoy the special importance of the holy month, the best month of all months in the Islamic calendar, where Allah bestows us with His mercy and blessings.

That Sweet Sunday Morning...

Before leaving for KL, Cahaya took the whole family for a wonderful fishing by the river at Kota Batu. Ohh, that was our first time and of course it wasn't that easy. Our spot was at a small wooden pondok with a little jetty. It was a fine sunny day.

We made our own fishing rods. Our maid Eka, took nice long buluh just nearby our house. The kids were so excited all through the way and they didn't mind the hot sun at all. Their Ayah did fixed the hook and bait, etc. I didn't use the 'homemade' fishing rod, but used my own equipment that I invented. Cool!

Ayah and Maya were seriously fishing...

That was Fatima with Eka...

We spent almost the whole day fishing, but we didn't get any fish. We just had fun and it was a great moment spent together with the kids.

Kenari Terbang Tinggi

Finally, Kedah’s football team, Skuad Hijau Kuning or Skuad Kenari, has it’s own football magazine - Buletin Kenari. The magazine which presents as the Match Report for this tough squad is published by my Cahaya’s company together with a subsidiary of Kedah’s MB office. Cool!

And on the right, is the bulletin's Chief Editor, JR. Not only a journalist, he is also a song writer. Remember the song Debunga Wangi that was onced made popular by Nash Lefthanded? Yes, he wrote the lyrics.
